Common Council Highlights
The Mayor read a proclamation recognizing lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer month

Approved the 2021 budget process schedule
SAVE THE DATES for public meetings on October 13 and November 10
We approved two special permits for Tapatios and Me & Julio to add outdoor seating for guests.
The Wisconsin Election Commission (WEC) is going to send absentee ballot applications to every voter in the state that has not already requested one.
This is fantastic and means we won't have to spend the money to do it ourselves
This was finalized after the 6/9 council meeting and the plan is moving forward

Why is is called Common Council and not City Council?
Common Council is the official name designated by state statute, but functionally, it means the same thing. The Common Council meetings always include the mayor as well as the eight alders.

What is the Finance Committee?
The Finance Committee is a standing (permanent) committee made up of three alders. They oversee appropriations for expenditures from the City budget and fund accounts, oversees the actions and affairs of the City Treasurer, the Assessor, the Board of Review, the TIF District Advisory Committee, and the Community Development Authority and review all bills and claims submitted. The committee reviews the annual budget, the borrowing of funds, the issuance of revenue bonds, the purchase or lease of real or personal property, the sale of city property, insurance coverage and policies and labor contracts. Additional duties include reviewing the levy or imposition of any tax or forfeiture, the levy of taxes and special assessment and to oversee the disposition of any personal property which has been abandoned or remained unclaimed.
